I am looking to move away from propecia to the generic finasteride products that seem to be available in abundance at the moment (due to significant difference in price). Given that the active ingredient is the same, is there likely to be any difference in the effectiveness of the drug? Or even the side effects?

Unless this started happening very suddenly or you can see/feel significant differences in the density of your hair still on your scalp, this doesn't seem too concerning. People can lose over 100 daily just as part of their natural hair growth cycles, depending on the density of their hair.
