Minoxidil application? What are the signs that the treatment is working?

If you use 5 % minoxidil as directed, twice daily it is said that results can generally be seen in 4 to 6 months. Does this imply that if you were to apply it once daily, it would take 8 to 12 months before getting the equivalent results for people who will respond to the treatment? What are the signs that the treatment is working? If there are a lot of thin fine hairs growing will these get thicker with time?

Not necessarily. It means it takes up to 6 months to see results with Minoxidil use. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. sure you are applying minoxidil to the scalp not the hair shafts.  Growth related to minoxidil will be gradual
over months of twice daily application.   If unsure whether minoxidil is working after
6 months, see a hair transplant specialist for a microscopic evaluation which
will to tell you more about the quality and quantity of your hair.  Evaluating before you start minoxidil and
after 6 months of use would be the ideal times to compare results.

Minoxidil application is twice daily for men and once daily for women. If it's working really well, one year later the patient says "Wow, my hair looks better." Anything else means it's either not working or working only a bit.Before the one year mark, one can appreciate sprouting hair. These are approximately 4 cm in length at 4 months and 8 cm at 8 months. It can be difficult for patients to appreciate this growth in early stages.No, once daily for men does not simply take longer than twice daily - it is overall less effective.

It takes time to see any real effect from minoxidil when applied topically. Once a day application is about as good as twice a day, but the liquid applied directly to the scalp is better than the foam which gets all over the hair and less on the scalp
