Co2 Fractional Laser under eyes WITHOUT eye protection. Any suggestions?

I had this procedure this afternoon, and despite asking for eye protection several times, was told by the technician that the laser did not go deep enough to cause eye injury, and to close my eyes. Trusting that the information given by someone allegedly qualified to give it correct. My eyes watered copiously for several minutes following the procedure, and the whites turned pink. I am very anxious and worried that they may have been damaged and I will lose my sight. Please advise. Thanks.

All laser resurfacing procedures should be performed with eye protection.  At our facility all CO2 laser resurfacing procedures are performed with smooth, lubricated eye shields on the eyes to ensure protection of the eyes during the procedure.I hope this helps.

Without fail, we use metallic contact lenses on all eyelid laser procedures. They are lubricated with ophthalmic ointment as not to cause any corneal abrasions or irritation.
