I had a lower jaw surgery and a sliding genioplasty 3 weeks ago. My chin is not symmetrical at all, and the Xray shows asymmetric chin as well. When I told my surgeon about it he said it is still swollen and wait to see the result. If it remains asymmetrical, what are my options to fix this?

A custom geniplasty with wedge resection or augmentation is the option for major chin assymmetries.

It is always wise to wait a number of months and following genioplasty, one may have to wait 9 to 12 months to see the final result. The degree of asymmetry may be much smaller at the time. Techniques to correct can include shaving down bone on the more prominent aspect or adding filler to the smaller area. This can be done with both synthetic fillers or using one's own fat. It is hard to determine symmetry from many radiographic findings unless it is noted in many different views of the x-ray.
