1 week post op of Laser Hair Removal, I noticed some hair shed without a root. Is this normal?

I had my first last hair removal appointment a week ago on my bikini area. I've been hopeful it's worked because large areas don't seem to be growing much. However, I have found that many hairs come out when I gently pull on them - I would never have been able to do this before as that hair is far too tough and coarse! However the 'loose' ones, when removed, do not appear to have a root. Is this normal? Does this mean the treatment has been ineffective?

Thank you for your question. What you are describing is very normal and is actually a good sign that the treatment worked well. The hair that is easily coming out after your laser hair treatments are from follicles that were eliminated during your treatment. I would continue your recommended sessions from your provider. What you are describing is a good sign and shows that the hair bulbs or follicles were destroyed in some of the hairs so they are shedding. This is quite normal for up to about 2 weeks after treatment. Don't pull on the hairs, they will shed as they can and need to. Continue with treatments as each treatment will get more follicles treated. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
