Ive wanted a BA since i was about twenty (im 32 now), but didn't want to having anything done until i'd had children, i've now got two amazing kids and feel now is the time to look into having the procedure done. I want them to look as natural as possible (not massive, possibly a c cup? Just so i no longer have to wear padded bras and can just feel feminine!), from researching im favouring the tear drop implants but have been put off from a couple of people who know someone whos had them in and they've rotated, is this a common possibility? Also i took some images of my boobs when i was breastfeeding as the nipples became really assymetrical, is this something that is likely to occur during a BA and would it be easy to rectify? I've booked for a consultation with one surgeon but looking into others, im 179cm, 66kg and slim build, there are so, so many implant options - any advice on what would suit my shape would be greatly appreciated, Thank you xx
Answer: Implant size and type Dear whitesands, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Answer: Implant size and type Based on your photos, it appears you are an excellent candidate for breast augmentation using implants. The asymmetry you are referring to during breastfeeding would likely not be a problem with your breast augmentation, particularly if you choose an experienced plastic surgeon that will know how to adjust your implants to create balance between your nipples and areolas. As far as the shape of your implant, anatomical implants can rotate inside the breast tissue but this is not a common occurrence. Round implants may provide you with more upper pole fullness for a more youthful upper body profile, but this is a matter of personal preference. The most important choice is to select a board-certified plastic surgeon that can walk you through the decision-making process and help you create the breast augmentation results you want.

Answer: Teardrop implants and assymetric nipples? Thank you for your question. Based on your photos, it appears that you will have a nice result from breast augmentation surgery. I see the asymmetry that you are referring to well breast-feeding. I don't think that will be a big issue after your augmentation. It seems that your breasts and nipples responded differently to being engorged, but this won't be an issue with augmentation. Right now you appear to have fairly good symmetry. One breast is slightly larger than the other, and in this situation you may consider using a slightly larger implant on the smaller side. This is not required however. With properly sized implants, you will have a nice result with smooth round silicone implants. Teardrop implants are not required to have a "natural" look. Good luck with your upcoming consultation!

Answer: Implants During your consultation, you will be measured and can try on a range of sizes that best suits your frame and tissue. Shaped implants can rotate. Round implants do become somewhat teardrop shape with women upright. Please discuss all your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: Measurements to determine implants sizes with asymmetrical breasts You have some chest wall asymmetry and perhaps a difference in breast size, so you will likely get the best result from using different size implants. Round implants should work well and I see no reason to consider form-stable (anatomical, tear-drop) implants. Your sizing process will depend on specific measurements such as base diameter, your desired size, and determination of what the difference in implant volume needs to be. 3-D imaging may help with that.
