Nasolabial folds, will filler correct it? (photo)

Question

I have always had a smile line from a small age but over the last few years I have noticed this line getting worse. It's only on one side and hate looking at it esp if I'm not smiling. I have lost weight gained from being pregnant and feel it's come from my face making this 'fold' more prominent. Will fillers correct it?

For nasolabial folds, I recommend a combination approach to get the most improvement with fillers for the folds themselves and to provide anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. Lasers and microneedling/prp will improve texture and tone while ultherapy/rf treatments will provide skin tightening and lift. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Hi there, thank you for your question. Although it is normal and natural looking to have subtle nasolabial folds, I agree that in your case, particularly the left side, has developed a deep fold that would certainly benefit from filler injections. With thick skin and a heavy fold, typically Voluma or Perlane work well at lifting the skin and providing the necessary structure to correct the fold.  In terms of injection technique, filler is usually injected in the upper cheek to help lift the skin and then strategically placed slightly beneath the fold using a blunted cannula to safely deposit the product.  With both techniques and the correct volume of product, you should achieve a satisfying result.

Thanks for the question. I think a filler such as Restylane Defyne could be used to soften the nasolabial folds and would give you a natural looking correction. I would also consider a thicker filler such as Radiesse (+) along the jawline and into the prejowl sulcus to soften the hollowing in the prejowl region. Finally, a volumizing filler such as Sculptra may be injected into the midface (cheeks) to help lift the face and address the facial volume loss related to your recent weight loss.

Nasolabial folds are a common part of the aging process. The fullness or fat pads located in our cheek in youth move down our face as we age creating the nasolabial folds and ultimately jowls. Asymmetry can occur from sleep positioning over time. Yes, filler definitely helps to correct this. Filler can be placed into the cheeks (Volume or Restylane lyft) or directly into the nasolabial fold (Juvederm or Restylane defyne). I frequently utilize a mixture of both to get the best result.
