Is possible to go have CoolSculpting around this area following my c-section? (Photos)

CoolSculpt is safe around the C-Section scar, but I wouldn't advise applying a treatment over it. There are most likely some scar tissues that are still healing around there. CoolSculpt does recommend that you are not breastfeeding while receiving treatment. Best, Dr. Anil Shah

Thank you for the photo. In my practice here in Ohio I would advise you to wait at least one year after your baby on the stomach. I also have a concern about the laxity on the abdomen if/when you cool sculpt bc it does not tighten the skin. I would see a provider within a plastic surgeon's office bc you may need surgery for best outcomes. When you sculpt the fat down the skin may appear looser, only you ca can decide if that's acceptable to you or not but an in person consultation would be best! Good Luck!

Hi there, Thank you for your question and picture. Based on what can be seen it does appear that you may be a great candidate for CoolSculpting. With that being said you will need to contact the doctor who delivered your baby and ask them if they would like you to wait a full 12 months before doing anything in that area. At seven months after your C-section, I do not think there should be any problem having a CoolSculpting treatment above the area where your incision was made.  CoolSculpting can reduce fullness due to fat.  If there is any excess skin, this issue would not be addressed with CoolSculpting.  

You should be able to get Coolsculpting to the area above your C-section scar where you have some fullness. Consider getting EMSculpt as well. It can increase muscle mass and tone, and reduce overlying fat, sculpting the musculature of the abdomen while Coolsculpt will further reduce the fat between the skin and muscle.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Quintessa

Thank you for your question. CoolSculpting is very effective for removing pockets of belly fat. Many of the patients at my Los Angeles practice are very pleased with their results. I should say that some of your concerns cannot be addressed by CoolSculpting alone. Scar tissue and lax abdominal skin are best corrected by excisional surgery, like a tummy tuck. Good luck. 

Hello and thank you for your question.  Coolsculpting will definitely help with fat reduction in this area.  The degree of skin tightening varies from patient to patient depending on condition of skin in treated area. Most patients that are in the same position as yourself are happy with the degree of tightening and fat reduction.   It is best to wait 1 year post surgery to ensure the scar is well healed.   As stated by another provider,  a tummy tuck will give an ideal result if looking for a flat stomach.   An in person consultation with an expert in coolsculpting/body contouring provider is needed to determine best options for you. In many cases, you'll be pleased with the improvement in skin excess but this is not guaranteed. Skin tightening can occur with ThermiTight. As long as you have been medically cleared by your Doctor with no complications after your c-section, there should be no problem having Coolsculpting treatments done to this area. Coolsculpting will target the subcutaneous fat layer and can also help with some skin tightening.
