Why is Ultrasonic Cavitation contraindicated for persons with HIV?

Hello, I'm a 48 year old HIV+ woman and for years I've been extremely subconscious about the cellulite on my thighs and buttocks. I've heard of ultrasonic cavitation and surgery scares me. However, I've heard about the contraindications for autoimmune diseases. I've researched this often and I've been unable to locate a concise answer. I'm currently on my HIV medications and I'm fully treatment adherent. Is it possible for me to have this procedure done at all? Thanks for the response.

There are no contraindications for you to have ultrasonic cavitation therapy, liposuction, BodyFX, or even CoolSculpt. Cellulite is different with every person and I highly recommend seeking an experienced plastic surgeon before committing to one particular treatment. Let let me start by saying that there is absolutely no contraindication for you to have cavitation therapy. However, cavitation therapy is not going to improve your cellulite as it is used to decrease the amount of fat. In patients who have cellulite, decreasing the amount of fat will actually worsen the appearance of cellulite. There are specific treatments for cellulite available and in order to determine which will work best for you, you need to be seen by plastic surgeon. Good luck from New York City
