Concealing strip scars can be achieved by inserting hair follicle grafts into the linear tissue. These can be harvested from other regions of your scalp. Our clinic has also designed specialized Follicular Unit Extraction technology to safely extract body (as well as head hair) as viable grafts. These follicles can be relied upon if you no longer have a sufficient donor supply quantities remaining on your head. Here is an example of a patient from our office at the Dr.U Clinic who achieved excellent coverage of multiple strip scars using this approach. He was even able to confidently wear a buzz cut afterwards, without the scars being visible.
You can camouflage scalp scars with Scalp MicroPigmenation. There is a video of this here.
Several options- one is hair grafting right into the scar utilizing FUE obtained grafts, the other being attempting a scar repair using plastic surgery closure techniques. Different techniques work better for certain patients.
Many patients who had a strip hair restoration procedure complain about scar left post operatively. They did not expect to be left with such a problem. The good news is there is help. You can proceed with NEOGRAFT or ARTAS robotic hair transplant procedure that allows to cover the linear scar left after the STRIP procedure. This amazing technology allows for the precise, artistic placement of new hair follicles to areas you are concerned about. The FUE procedure is truly a breakthrough for hair loss patients. It allows collecting and placing individual hair follicles without the use of scalpel and surgical removal of strips from the back of the scalp. There are many benefits: no linear scars, no stitches or staples, shorter more comfortable recovery, short haircuts possible after the procedure. Please consider that great option and schedule your consultation.
Options involve covering with adjacent hair, FUE or scar revision. You should consult with a surgeon who can come up with the best plan for you.
Several options exist and you may want to talk directly with a physician to decide on the best one. Sometimes a multi-prong approach is needed. Some are: -micro pigment -scar surgical revision -placing fue grafts in the scar itself -laser resurfacing
Strip scar repairs are best treated with scalp micropigmentation. We see people every day for this problem (see web reference below)
Linear scars on the back of the head secondary to hair transplantation strips may be visible when you wear your hair very short if the scar has widened as it heals. If this is the case, then rexcising the scar and removing the widened scar tissue may be very effective in achieving a thinner, less visible scar. If the scar is already thin but visible because of hair loss around the scar, then placing some grafts in this area should conceal the scar. In order to avoid a new linear scar, these grafts should be taken as FUE or by Neograft technique. It's important to visit an expert hair transplant doctor to achieve this.
Scars from donor harvesting for hair transplants should be thin enough so that the adjacent hair conceals them. This is similar to a post facelift situation. Extremely wide (high) scars can sometimes be revised with tissue expansion assisted scar revision.
Hey! When you say silky hair I assume you mean low caliber hair. Now lets look at your question from a different perspective. Would the same number of low caliber silky hairs give as much coverage as coarser high caliber hair? The answer is no. The reason for this is that what we see in the...
There are a number of options you have, of course, I would have to see you to make an actual recommendation. The three options could include (1) scalp micropigmentation (see below), (2) scalp expanders and (3) hair transplants
Necrosis on the scalp is exceedingly rare. If you go to a reputable clinic then you decrease teh rare chance because they will take many standard steps to lower the chance of necrosis.
