I wonder if mentor silicone 350 cc differ from allergan 350 cc? Same sizes (350 cc) differ according the silicone brand?

Thank you for your question.  If both implants are silicone 350cc, the size and look will be very similar whether they are manufactured by Mentor or Allergan. Many plastic surgeons have a specific preference for one brand over the other, but you can achieve excellent results with either brand.  Your results will largely be determined by the skill of your plastic surgeon, so it is important to find a plastic surgeon with extensive experience in breast augmentation and who can show you before and after pictures of their results. Though a ton of anything weighs exactly as much as a ton of something else, they can come in different "packages." However 350cc implants by two different manufacturers are quite similar, but not exactly so, and can differ by fill percentage (as with Natrelle Inspira implants) as well as width and projection (profile). One could be textured and the other smooth, and one could be shaped (teardrop) and its identical-volume 350cc counterpart round.The differences are USUALLY minimal, but this is a discussion to have with your surgeon regarding his/her recommendations and your wishes. Remember, however, that High(er) Profile does NOT equal "more upper pole fullness." HP implants have the most projection (actually extra full profile do, they are a few mm taller yet), but since they are round they also have the narrowest width AND the shortest height = LEAST upper pole fullness when they have dropped to their final crease position.Implant dimension differences between same-type implants from Mentor or Allergan are truly minimal; ask your surgeon to look at the companies' size charts for an easy comparison. Dear Buketcapin,Thanks for your question.  A 350cc implant of the same profile from either Allergan or Mentor are very similar.  For the patient, there really should be little discernible difference in the outcome from surgery.   Both are excellent implants and both manufacturers are used worldwide.There may be difference in the dimensions of the implants in a given size, but these shouldn't really matter all that much.  The Mentor shell seems a bit thinner to me when I've compared the implants but again, this is really of no consequence to you.Best wishes for your surgery!Shim Ching, MD

The differences are very subtle. Less than a couple millimeters with some slight differences in fill ratio. It depends on what profile and also whether they are the Allergan natrelle or inspira which are newer. The exact choice of size that will work best for you is an important decision that you should make with your board certified plastic surgeon. 3D Vectra imaging and simulation, the Mentor gel sizing system, rice filled implants at home in your bra, and bio-dimensional analysis are all methods that can be employed to help you come to a decision. Thank you for your question.  The three major US implant companies are Allergan, Mentor, and Sientra.  There is currently a moratorium on the use of Sientra implants in the US and Europe.  Allergan and Mentor both produce an excellent implant, and similar size implants will have roughly the same dimensions, resulting in similar results.  Hope that this helps. 

There are subtle differences in dimension between Mentor's and Allergan's implants, but 350cc should give you the same volume from both manufacturers.

There is really no way to accurately predict what size you would like without an
examination. During your examination and consultation, you should try on some
sample sizes and see what you are comfortable with. This is an accurate
approximation of what you would get. If in doubt, go up one size from the one
you like. Then the PS can help explain with the size and current condition of
your breasts the effects of those sized implants will have on you.

You should not be worrying about which vendor. The surgeon will select the proper implant.

Both companies make a good implant. The differences will be subtle and probably not noticeable to you. Thank you for the question. Yes, there will likely be minor differences in the dimensions of the breast implants made by each company.  Both companies make good products; much more important than the specific breast implant manufacturer  utilized will be some of the principles discussed below:  

1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.
2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals.
In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. In bra sizers can be useful communication tools also.  For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural look” or "C or D cup" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. The use of computer imaging may be very helpful during the communication process.
3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery ( after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers).
