Is vaser lipo appropriate for someone with a pacemaker?

As a 34y.o. Bradicardia patient, I am using pacemaker for about 9 years but with 30% operating time. My heart has its own beat rates and pacem. is not operating all time. Adding, I have a really embarrassing fat in back, upper leg and little on chest. Therefore, I wanted to have this operation and I really search a lot this topic. I suggest getting a tumescent procedure, which doesn't require you to be asleep.  The ultrasound from the laser should not have any affect on your pacemaker.  Typically I would have you see our cardiologist to clear you for the procedure first.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question.Heart block and cardiac disrhythmias and use of a pace maker are contraindications for elective cosmetic surgery.Your cardiologist, surgeon and anaesthetist jointly will be able to advise you if your particular case is suitable for  safe Vaser treatment.

Vaser or smartlipo are generally performed with tumescent technique which involved lidocaine and epinephrine, both of which will effect your cardiac function. I would strongly advise against all elective cosmetic procedures; however, if you are seriously considering such a procedure, your cardiologist should be asked to clear you for the procedure. I would not consider you a candidate in my practice. Safety first. No reason to risk your health for a cosmetic procedure given your history.
