I am a 28 year old femal with an almost 2 year old son. I was 69kg when I fell pregnant and 169cm tall and put on at least 30kg. I am down to 63kg post pregnancy and lost the weight slowly. I notice my belly is still flabby particularly if I bend over it gets lots of wrinkles. I'm wondering if I am a candidate for a tummy tuck or if you think vaser and exercise will be enough to get rid of the flab? I must admit I have been slack on the exercise front but am getting back into it.
Answer: Liposuction or tummy tuck Your question is "will VASER liposuction or exercise get rid of my excess skin?" The answer is no. The only way to really reduce the amount of excess skin is to remove it with a tummy tuck procedure. It also will be the only way to completely tighten the abdominal wall laxity that you probably have after your pregnancy. But that does not mean that you have to have a tummy tuck to improve your abdominal contour. If you get back into exercise, you will lose the excess fatty tissue and your abdominal wall muscles will improve. The skin will retract some and your overall abdominal shape will improve. If you do everything that you can to optimize your health and are still not happy with the amount of skin laxity, you will probably then need to resort to a tummy tuck to achieve the results that you want.

Answer: Do I need a Tummy Tuck or can exercise or Vaser Liposuction get rid of my excess skin? Be very careful with your decision-making. Depending on your goals, it is very likely (in my opinion) that you will be disappointed with the outcome of liposuction surgery. Most patients with your history and abdominal wall appearance, benefit from a full tummy tuck operation ( assuming you are otherwise a good candidate). Again, make your decisions carefully. Best wishes.

Answer: Do I need a Tummy Tuck or can exercise or Vaser Liposuction get rid of my excess skin? From the pictures I think that liposuction may be a very good option and will obviously avoid the longer tummy tuck scar. An exam would be necessary to confirm.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Liposuction, exercise or tummy tuck Hi there,Well done on the weight loss. The first piece of information we need is to understand whether you are considering further pregnancies at some point. The second is to examine you to understand whether you have a rectus diastasis. That is, whether some of your appearance is due to stretching of your muscle wall and not just the skin.i suspect most of your appearance (which given your 30kg weight loss is better that you think!) is due to skin loosening, and as such you are more likely to be a tt candidate than a lipo candidate.Having said that, my advice is to do no surgery or lipo for now. I think given you have not exercised, that a year of regulare exercise in the gym, you dont have to overdo it, but focus on your core and trunk area, may very well be all you need to be happy with your appearance. Your skin will never return to your pre pregnancy elasticity though. You must be realistic about this.all the very best.

Answer: Benefits of tummy tuck Thank you for the question. Tummy tuck and liposuction address different needs so it would help to conduct an in-person exam to give you an individualized answer. A tummy tuck would probably be the best option because it offers the most effective way to correct loose skin and muscle separation in addition to eliminating excess fat. Liposuction will also remove fat, but it can't address flabby, hanging skin that typically persists after weight loss. For this reason, many patients who have experienced a massive weight loss or recent pregnancy tend to opt for a tummy tuck. This procedure can also be combined with liposuction for maximum effect. An in-person exam with a board certified plastic surgeon is always the best way to fully assess your needs and address your concerns. Best of luck!
