Will hair grafts be damaged because of constipation?

Thank you for posting this question. The short answer is no...at 5 days your grafts are actually fairly well-healed in and there’s not much you can do to adversely affect their growth at this point. So, no worries about your hair, but straining at stool is a one-way ticket to hemorrhoids….you might try Metamucil or similar product. I hope this information is helpful to you.

After five days your transplanted grafts should be healed well enough so that constipation won't affect them.  The new blood supply has formed by then.  If you took any narcotics after surgery that is what probably caused your constipation.  The best treatment is to use a fiber laxative and drink plenty of water.

No, this should not affect your transplant. After 5 days those grafts are already nearly cemented into the skin. As an interesting historical fact, back when large plugs were used there actually was a fear that strenuous activity or high blood pressure would dislodge the grafts immediately post op. However I wouldn't be concerned about straining on the toilet dislodging grafts nowadays.
