Will the hair regrow from where the flakes has fallen? (Photo)

Question

I had transplant done July 2018 in September transplanted are turned red and very thick flaky. I used the anti dandruff shampoo few times it reduced the discomfort a bit now after couple of weeks the flakes started falling but it’s got a lot of hair in there the parts from where the flakes are falling. Is clear skin now, I don’t see any hair there now has my transplant been affected? Thank you .

Anti dandruff shampoo will help with flaking.  Losing the initially grafted follicles is part of the normal hair cycle and should not cause you concern. You should expect new hair growth 4-6 months.

nikib,At only 3 months post surgery it is still very early. Most of the growth should occur during the 4th to 8th month interval. I would recommend that you go to all the follow up visits with your surgeon for evaluation. In the event that things do not work out then at about the one year mark a second opinion might be in order.All the best,B. Arocha, MD

Hard to say exactly what happened from the one photo and your story.  Did you contact your surgeon when this was going on and go in for assessment? At this point I wouldn't expect to see any hair.  Not much to do but wait and see how the hair comes in over the next 5-9 months

If you are flaking after a hair transplant and you are at least 30 days out, you can use an anti-dandruff shampoo to stop the flaking
