Treatment for Fordyce Spots on Mouth Lips?

Dear All, Why any Dr. on earth take serious this condition as a real problem to attend. It causes a lot of psychological issues to the people with this condition. The response of every derma is: totally normal they are ectopic glands... we already know that, imagine someone that wants to treat Hair Loss (normal) acne (normal) wrinkles (normal) and all of those conditions can be treated accept this FS. there are millions of people out there using dangerous h remedies, Co2 laser its the only hope

Thank you for your question. You will need an exam by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, and or Board Certified Dermatologist, and determine the nature of the spots, then a treatment plan initiated, which may include CO2, Erbium, or 755nm laser, or even a V-Beam.  A diagnosis to all the spots is critical, then a treatment plan.  I hope this helps.

The reason we don't have great treatment options is because the lips (eyes and groin are another place fordyce spots occur) are prone to scarring. It is a real problem, but it's not an acute problem meaning it's not physically harming the person who has them. I understand your frustration with fordyce spots, but the problem for treatment is that at this time, there's just not a great treatment option that won't leave you more susceptible to scarring or discoloration from lasers removing pigment. CO2 lasers can work (done on very low energies). pulsed dye lasers can work too (again on low energies), and finally excision of the larger spots is an option. At this point these are really the only viable options. Medicine advances every single day and often we find that medications we already dispense suddenly work on cases we never thought of. I know it's not an ideal world sometimes, but I hope in the future that there can be something better, easier, and more effective to treat fordyce spots.
