Silicone acne scars overcorrection?

i just received a silicon filler treatment for acne scarring. Multiple all over my face, one area so far look okay but the right side temple and forehead have lots of bumps... i was quickly dismissed at the end of my appointment and was told it was just swollen and that it would go down... now i know yhis stuff is permanent so how long does the swelling last and how much down will it really go?

People with acne scarring tend to have both high and low areas on their faces. If you have a few raised areas after microdroplet Silikon1000, this may be definitively improved with light electrosurgery with a Hyfrecator. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

I believe that Silikon 1000 is an excellent adjunctive treatment for acne scars, along with facial resurfacing by chemical peeling and by CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars).  Without photos or more information, it is impossible to answer your question more fully.  I think that you should return to your treating physician.

Thank you for your question.  It's impossible to make exact recommendations without examining you in person.  That said, in general, Silikon 1000 injections for acne scars are administered using a microdroplet technique, wherein miniscule droplets of product are injected directly into the scar.  The goal isn't to fill the scar with silicone per se, but rather to stimulate your body's own collagen production around the droplet of product, to gradually fill in the scar.  Placing larger volumes of silicone (even medical grade products like Silikon 1000) in bolus injections carries a significantly higher risk of delayed lumps and nodules forming under the skin.
It's possible that you are experiencing swelling after injection.  It's also possible that the scars were over-injected - it's impossible to say without seeing you.  I would recommend that you follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns.  Silikon 1000 injections are a very complex procedure - I would recommend only seeing a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon with extensive experience in this technique.
