Perfect Peel - the aftercare moisturiser is burning/stinging. Anything else I can use?

Did the ‘Perfect Peel’ on Friday. I’m on day 3 - everything is going well, started peeling. Using the ‘post Peel moisturiser’ that’s in the kit - sparingly - but it’s really stinging on the skin under the peeling. Tried a little of my normal moisturiser, but that really stung too. I’m only washing with water, and carefully patting dry. The skin doesn’t look red or inflamed, it just feels very sore/stinging with any moisturiser including the one in the kit. Any suggestions? Thank you!

After a peel, I tend to recommend the cicalfate post procedure emulsion from Avene.  It is soothing and cooling and suitable for sensitive skin.  And if the skin still feels dry, I usually give my patients cicalfate restorative skin cream.  However, if you cannot get those products, then I recommend a simple product like Cetaphil cream.  Keep in mind, after a peel you want a 'boring' moisturizer to protect your skin, one without retinol, retina-a, any acids.  And remember to be diligent with your skincare.  You should really check back with the provider who did your peel to see if they have any further recommendations.

Hi.  Thank you for your question.  Sorry about the stinging.  Find a deep moisturizer with a high content of hydrocortisone or use hydrocortisone in conjunction with the moisturizer.  Rest assured that this stage will last for only a few more days.  It sounds as if you may have sensitive skin so be sure to wear your sunscreen daily.   Best of luck
