Woke up with swollen lips and chin filler months later - what can I do?

I had filler plced several months ago. I had to get the top lip dissolved due to bumps. Today I woke up and the bottom lip and chin are swollen and slightly sore. Top lip has no filler and is fine. What can I do?

You may want to consider a lip lift. A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

It has been shown in some scientific articles that injection of fat micro and nano grafts into a fresh or chronic scar may significantly change size and appearance of the scar. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure would help. Good luck.

Does filler migration reduce teeth show and elongate the philtrum?

Usually fillers do not migrate much. The weight of the filler, if it is excessive, will length the philtrum. You may benefit from a lip lift rather than repeated injections to increase the incisor show. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

It should not matter! Although you should be mindful that if you're still bleeding from the lips/injection sites that you might want to take it easy so you're not mixing blood with the contents of your mouth.
