Juvederm Volite - Not for volume or lip augmentation?

Question

I decided to get lip filler. I’m not familiar with products and the nurse used Juvederm Volite. When I got home, I looked up this product and it says it’s used for hydration and fine lines, NOT volume or lip augmentation. I’ve raised this concern with the clinic, and they’ve said that Volite could be used for volume and augmentation. I can’t find any information that leads me to believe that is true. Can a doctor please comment on this and whether it was an appropriate course of action?

There are a variety of fillers available that can be used to treat various concerns, though some are marketed for given areas.  Volite is designed as more as a product to improve hydration and elasticity rather than volume.  There are a number of HA fillers that are used to improve volume such as Juvederm Volbella which is designed for areas such as the lips.

While the Juvéderm Volite formula may not have been specifically created for lip augmentation, that does not mean it can’t be used effectively for this purpose. In fact, most dermal fillers are used to treat issues beyond their original intention and/or FDA approval; and many clinicians choose to move forward based on the known healing effects of a particular formula and the patient’s unique skin type and history.While the focus of Juvéderm Volite is to reduce fine lines and restore hydration, these are not the only effects. As a hyaluronic acid filler, this formula will also help to restore volume. Depending on your specific goals and skin type, it’s possible that only subtle volume restoration in combination with other rejuvenating effects could create the most desired outcome.
