Juvederm disappeared in one week. What should I do? (Photo)

Hello, and thank you very much for your question. Swelling is generally present in the days immediately following treatment. When the swelling subsides, it appears as if the effect of the filler disappeared. You may be a candidate for a touch-up. I would recommend following up with your provider, as he/she knows the details of your treatment and will be able to make an assessment for you. For several days after lip injections you will appear larger since there is swelling.  As the swelling subsides you will go to the finished result.  If you don't notice much difference, you probably didn't have much Juvederm put in.  It would not dissolve in one week.   So you should go back for more if you want larger lip.    

Thanks for your question. During the first week after lip injection, it is normal to experience some mild swelling. This is probably why your lips have gone down in size. Ideally, though, you should see enhanced volume to your lip that persists for months after the injection, so you may simply need more Juvederm injected. I would wait another week to see if your lip size remains stable, but if there are no changes you should return to see the person that performed your procedure. Good luck!

Hello Nadine14,The lips tend to swell quite a bit after injection.  The swelling peaks around day 2-3 and is nearly gone by 7-10 days.  What you were likely seeing was the swelling giving you the result you wanted.  If you liked the more full look you had with swelling you could go back and get more injected.  I would certainly discuss this with your injector.  I hope this helps and good luck.  

The lips often swell quite a bit after fillers to the lips. If you liked when they were swollen, perhaps you need more filler placed.

Hi Nadine, Thank you for sharing your excellent question about juvederm, HA filler being injected and then seeming to disappear after a week.  Most likely what happened is you experienced significant swelling post injection.  Remember that it's easier to put more in, but it's hard to take it out once it's in.  Should you deisre a fuller result seek the advice of your plastic surgeon.All the best,Brian S. It was more than likely the swelling that you were first noticing. As the swelling goes down that will be your final result. You can always go back and add more if you would like more volume.

The major issue is under injection of amounts. Return to be injected with more HA filler. Even in the companies patient brochures the treated patients shown have 2 syringes injected!
