How do I fix my facial asymmetry after fillers? (Photo)

Question

I had fillers injected 3 weeks ago. I had 0.5ml injected in my tear troughs (0.5ml), cheeks and smile lines (1.0ml for both sides) and lips (0.5ml) and Botox in forehead and crows feet. Now, my right cheek is significantly bigger the left and my smile is uneven. The left side of my mouth doesn’t elevate as much as the right and the left half of my lip is thicker than the right. Non of this asymmetry was present before I had fillers injected. What can be done to correct the facial asymmetry?

Hi there,
Everyone has some asymmetry. Symmetry can often be improved with dermal fillers. It's hard to say without seeing your before photos, however, if you're certain the filler is causing asymmetry I recommend consulting with your service provider. You may only need a small touch up on one side to even it out. Good luck.

Placement of fillers and botox is critical in obtaining precise, symmetric, and aesthetically pleasing results.  Most individuals are not 100% symmetric prior to treatment and without seeing a "Before" photo, it is difficult to comment on what the solution would be in your case.  If you had a hyaluronic acid filler placed, it can be absorbed by using a hyaluronidase injection.  If the asymmetry is from the poor placement of botox, the options include additional botox to the right side, (to decrease mouth elevation on that side as well), or wait until the effects wear off (3-5 months).  The key to treatment of this problem is evaluation by someone trained extensively in facial anatomy, always see an expert trained in facial surgery for injections.

Thank you for your question. The face is never symmetrical. For some individuals the asymmetry is even more visible when they smile. It is hard to comment without seeing before and after pics at rest and when smiling. However, symmetry can often be improved with proper placement of dermal fillers. I recommend seeing an expert. All the best, Dr Michon
