I have been taking finasteride 1mg/day since February of 2017. I have a full head of hair. Front Hairline is slowly receding and temples as well. the Crown has some receding but very little. I’m 27 years old. My moms father and brothers all have full sets of hair. My dad is bald. I would says I’m between stage 1 and stage 2 on Norwood scale (little closer to 1). Can I take dutasteride with finasteride and what dosage?? And what’s a good age for hair transplant?
Answer: Hair transplant You can consider hair transplant whenever you feel you are ready. You may be a candidate for SmartGraft. This hair loss treatment transfers individual grafts from the donor site to the areas needed. It is performed under local anesthetic with minimal down time. Most patients report little to no pain. There are no incisions, no stitches, and no linear scar. Some results can be seen immediately with full results after nine months. Answer: Finasteride vs Dutasteride Do not take both finasteride and Dutasteride together. The side effects would be multiplied and significant

Answer: Hair loss — spironolactone/finesteride, PRP/acell/exosomes, emeragecosmetics Restorsea spray, Viviscal, anteageMD stem cells You need a formal evaluation to see what type of hair loss you may have. when you have hairless its best to do a full hormonal workup for internal optimization plus scalp biopsies or scrapings to rule out any stress related, inflammatory, autoimmune or infectious causes of hair loss. In general most people with early hair loss have telogen (stress related) and/or androgenetic (normal aging) and both can be treated with in office treatments like steroid injections, PRP/acell, Exosomes and at home treatments like oral medications, oral vitamins like Viviscal, topical exfoliating sprays like Restorsea, and weekly growth factors like anteagemd. See an expert for an evaluation. If hair loss is significant it may requires hair transplant (follicular unit translation). start theradome now (see link). Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Dutasteride added to finasteride It sounds like the finasteride is doing a pretty good job for you. Adding another med like dutasteride which acts through the same DHT mechanism, but seems to block both type I and type II 5 a reductase and lowers the Dht than just finasteride is not as logical as adding another modality which works through another mechanism like Photo modulation therapy -- Laser Cap-- Also no SIDE EFFECTS!! Remember that prevention is time sensitive and the more aggressive and consistent you are with it the more hair you can save and hopefully strengthen. Surgery is NOT time sensitive. Better to wait and see how you respond to the more simple things like prevention. You can always do a transplant - but be conservative. Remember that Finasteride is approved by the FDA and Dutasteride is not.

Answer: Combo of Propecia and dutesteride. There is no benefit to taking both medications. In fact this could significantly increase your risk of side effects. Propecia is the only approved prescription treatment for hair loss. The off label use of dutesteride decreases the amount of DHT(dihydroxytesterone) by up to 90% while Propecia is 60%. But the down side is that dutesteride increased the risk of side effects.
