I'd like a second opinion: Butt implants visible, hard & able to move, are they placed correctly?

I got 400cc butt implants in Toronto, Canada two years ago, I paid $17,000 altogether. My butt implants are extremely visible and very hard. I have very little skin/fat between the implant and my skin. I can’t even pinch fat and my implant is hard. I can push my implant all around in a circle & stick my hand completely under it. The surgeon told me I was getting them placed between the muscle but I have a hard time believing this with how visible they are. Are they placed correctly?

This is a common situation with Gluteal implants

In people who are extremely thin and have zero fat the implant edges and creases can become visible. It can be distressing but it is not to be of concern.

Your surgeon did a good job  and the implants are generally where they need to be in regards to placement, this fortunately or unfortunately is common in thin patients

Although an in person physical exam will be necessary at some point, your photos show a classic “gum-drop” appearance of round implants and a circumference visible edge typically associated with implants on top of the muscle or subfascial. Again this all would have to be confirmed with a physical exam.

Other than placing buttock implants within the gluteus maximus muscle (aka “intramuscular”) NOT on top of the muscle
or “subfascial”, the most important factors in creating the perfect derriere and/or hourglass figure with implants is indeed selecting the right size AND shape. I have found the best way to assure this is to simply measure the actual dimensions of the patient’s gluteus muscles (not butt cheek fat pad, which may appear “round”) and quantity and quality/density of these muscles. With these anatomical measurements, I can select an implant that not only significantly augments the buttock but also supplies the correct 3-dimensional enhancement to look as real as possible...with positional changes (eg. bending over and squatting down) and even in the most petite patients that have small/lean muscles and minimal overlying fat. The fact is, over 95% of the human population has a more oval shaped gluteus muscles not round.  Therefore an oval shaped implant such as the Stanton Anatomic buttock implant conforms best and produces a more realistic contoured outcome better than round implants.  Contrary to what many think, a round implant placed correctly within the muscle actually sits up at the top of the butt cheek, creating an unnatural pointy or “gum-drop effect”, not at the lower part of the butt cheek and thus does contribute to any of the lower butt fold or “cuff”. Height and weight are considered but not nearly as relevant as the above measurements. Final note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. If you can move the implants then it is unlikely that they are under the muscle. Make sure you check with a Board certified plastic surgeon
