Botox to the masseter muscle should not cause any problems with your braces. Although, I recommend you discuss your concerns with the orthodontist to ensure it is a good idea. All the Best.
Botox to the masseter muscle can be great for slimming the jawline in the properly selected patient. It's use poses no risk to the effectiveness of braces.
Botox used to treat the maseter muscles should not significantly affect your orthodontic plan or bite. You should inform your orthodontist; however, I don't think you'll find this to be an issue. I wish you well!
Botox for masseter reduction will not have any effect on your occlusion (bite) and thus will not create any risks when getting braces.
Having injected many masseters with Botox especially in the Asian culture, there should be problem with the braces. Why are you having braces? I have dentists who send me patients to have their Masseter muscles injected because of TMJ.
Dear Enracy,Botox® can be a wonderful way to shape the lower third of the face by injections into a large hypertrophied masseter muscle. The Botox® will relax the masseter muscle, slimming the lower jawline and creating a more oval shape to the face in those individuals who are square-jaw dominance as the presenting phenotype. As long as the masseter Botox® is performed judiciously and the function of the masseter is not impeded, there should be no contraindication to get braces or dental work done following the procedure. I have been performing Botox® injections for over 20 years and masseter shaping is an important part of intervention for many patients with square-dominant lower thirds. Botox in the masseter muscles will achieve a nice smooth relaxed look on the outer jawline. With regard to your braces ask your Orthodontist if this treatment would interfere with your dental plan. Thank you for your question. Best wishes.
