I am considering Sculptra Doc suggested temples and preauricular areas She educated me on massage post procedure My question is, whilst massaging, is the sculptra being displaced from the intended area to other areas of my face? Lets say possibly from my preauricular area into my midface?
Answer: Massaging after sculptra It is important to massage after sculptra. The standard post care follows the rule of 5's. Massage for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. The purpose is to prevent nodule formation and allow the chemical to integrate into the tissue. It is not viscous and thick like HA filler , which has to be placed meticulously right where we need it. For sculptra it's more thin like water and will not cause a similar "migration" effect like HA filler. So to clarify, it's actually a required part of the post care to massage it for better outcomes, and it doesn't migrate. It's also placed in deeper layers of the face.

Answer: Massaging After Sculptra: Concerns About Displacement or Migration Thank you for your question about Sculptra and the role of massage post-procedure. It’s great to hear that you are considering this treatment and have been educated on the aftercare. Here’s some information that may help alleviate your concerns: Sculptra Overview: Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable made of poly-L-lactic acid, designed to stimulate collagen production and gradually restore volume to the treated areas. Post-Procedure Massage: Massaging the treated areas is an important part of aftercare with Sculptra to ensure even distribution and to prevent the formation of nodules. The typical recommendation is to massage the area for five minutes, five times a day, for five days after the procedure. Risk of Displacement or Migration: When performed correctly, massaging should not cause Sculptra to migrate significantly from the intended placement. The product is injected into the deeper dermal layers where it integrates with the tissue, making significant migration unlikely. It is important to follow the specific massage techniques demonstrated by your provider to ensure optimal results. Consulting with Your Provider: If you have specific concerns about the possibility of Sculptra moving from areas like the preauricular region to the midface, discuss these with your provider. They can offer guidance tailored to your facial anatomy and treatment plan. Additional Considerations: Always follow the post-treatment instructions provided by your healthcare provider, as they are based on your individual treatment plan and needs. Warm regards,

Answer: Do fillers migrate? The simple answer to your question is no, fillers. Do not migrate anywhere as long as they are injected properly. You also don’t need to massage the area where the filler has been injected. I hope this helps and good luck from Leonard Grossman, MD, organic plastic surgery
