Through these small incisions the abdominal muscles are brought back together. Additional liposuction can be performed at the same time if desired. Diastasis recti refers to the separation of the rectus abdominis muscles which can occur after pregnancy or weight gain and loss. The separation causes the abdomen to protrude and is not usually corrected by abdominal exercises.
