The specific procedure your brow lift entails will depend on your needs. Factors such as whether entire brow or only the outer brow is to be raised, repositioning of the hairline, and the patient’s individual facial contours will determine the placement and extent of the incisions.  Endoscopic brow lifts, which make use of an endoscope: a narrow, hollow scope with a fiber-optic light source and a camera. Endoscopic brow lifts involve several short incisions behind the hair line.

For my money, there are no disadvantages for having an endoscopic brow lift compared to an open procedure.  The open procedure has been around forever and there are a lot of surgeons who continue to do it.  But the recovery is considerably longer, as is the incision, and a well trained surgeon, in my opinion, can achieve the same or better results with an endoscopic approach.  This may explain why recent studies suggest that the majority of surgeons now use the endoscopic small incision approach.  Good luck!

While it’s difficult to make an assessment from a photo alone, a brow lift might be a good choice for achieving your aesthetic goals whether performed endoscopically or by the traditional “open” method. Advantages to the endoscopic approach include smaller incisions and a quicker recovery time without compromising your results. I find endoscopic lifts can be just as long-lasting as traditional procedures as long as the surgeon performing the surgery has extensive experience in the technique. Choose a board-certified plastic surgeon that performs both types of brow lifts and plan to spend some time at your initial consultation discussing which approach might work best for you. if you have frontal bossing, or prominent, protruding forehead, endoscopic brow lift is less effective than open brow lift.  Also, endoscopic brow lift can provide less pull and undercorrect low set eye brows and heavy brow ridges.  Hope that this helps.  Thank you for your question.

The advantage of the endoscopic brow lift id that it is less invasive but the hairline will always be elevated with this technique.
