I have indents on my shoulders. Can this be corrected or are my shoulders permanently damaged?

Hello and thank you for posting photos along with your question! The best solution I can think of is Fat injection into these areas. These two areas would not require that much fat so as long as there is somewhere to obtain fat from it should be fine. I will say however, that you will very likely need multiple sessions because you can only inject so much fat (if you do it correctly). If you inject too much fat you can run into problems. If I inject fat into this area I ask patients to go bra-less for at least 3-4 weeks because I believe the pressure from the bra straps is not got for freshly tansferred fat. This can be improved with hi definition liposuction. In my practice we typically do hi definition body shaping with VASER HI DEF to improve this area with great success. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

The indentation is permanent and may be able to be improved.  I have utilized Fat transfer successfully in many areas of the body for this type of problem.  Indentations can be improved with fat transfer if performed correctly.  This procedure has been standardized and solves many problems of the past that were difficult to repair.  This goes for both cosmetic and reconstructive problems.  Therefore, I would look into this as an option for an improvement.  You may need more than one session, however, it is worth looking into as a solution.

Hello, thanks for your question and provided information... This situation is permanent, as we're talking about the bra straps, you can try with fat injections, they may help. 

Generally, the indentations of your shoulders from your bra straps is permanent. Fat injections may be able to reduce their depth and make them less conspicuous. However, significant precautions would need to be taken to maximize the survivability of the injected fat. You should have enough fat to improve this issue.Steven Turkeltaub, MD

Releasing the pressure on the area is definitely the first step.  If you haven't had lipo before , It is very possible that there is enough fat on your love handles to transfer to the area . If not , You could have hialuronic acid injection to fill the indentations.  the use of a strapless bra is advisable during healing time. Best wishes 

Even if you had enough fat to inject into the shoulder indents, the pressure of the bra straps would cause it to resorb anyway. Whether there is enough fat over the clavicular knob to reduce its prominence is the other approach. But in a thin person this is probably doubtful.
