Can I get chin fillers for the rest of my life instead of a chin implant?

Question

Hi, are there any adverse effects?I do not want to get a chin implant and will not. I do want to improve the projection of my weak chin. Would there be any harm in getting chin fillers twice a year for the rest of my life? Would chin fillers eventually cause bone erosion? I ask because the one time I got chin fillers previously, I could feel the needle hitting my bone and wondered if the filler was too close to it in this procedure.

"A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. Many patients would rather go the non-surgical route and opt-out of a chin implant and stick strictly to only having chin fillers placed. There is no harm in getting filler placed twice a year. Best,Dr. Anil Shah MD FACS

There should be no problem having chin fillers placed over a lifetime rather than having a chin implant. There are a variety of fillers that could be used.  Radiesse works well on the chin because it is a relatively stiff filler, but the results may only last a year or so.  There are some longer lasting fillers, including Sculptra and Bellafill.

Great question. If you're looking for a semi-permanent filler I would highly recommend Bellafill. Bellafill is collagen based filler lasting about 5 years sometimes longer depending on the patient. This product stimulates your own collagen to produce in the injected area so when the filler completely dissolves, your results still look great. I would recommend seeing a cosmetic surgeon that has plenty of experience using Bellafill and have them slowly add fullness to the area over time to ensure your results are perfect!
