I'm having breast reduction surgery in 2 weeks. I work at a desk, with minimal movement. My surgery is scheduled for a Friday afternoon and I would ideally like be back at work on Tuesday. I would only have to work 3 days before having a week and half off for the holiday. Is this realistic? I don't want to put myself at risk for complications.
Answer: Breast Reduction recovery In all honesty, probably. If your surgeon is using drains, they may not be removed yet. If not, you really don't want to lift your arms higher than your armpits or pick up anything heavier than a pound. If you can take those 3 days off, I think you will be much happier and you will have a faster recovery. However, check with your surgeon since he or she knows your case intimately. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Answer: Recovery Time After Breast Reduction #breast reduction recovery time, #breast reduction normal activityReturning to work after breast reduction surgery really depends on the type of job and your comfort level (pain). Most women are able to return to work and normal or limited activities two weeks after having a breast reduction, but for some it may be longer. Full activity such as heavy lifting, sports and vigorous exercise without restrictions is safer after six weeks of recovery.

Answer: Recovery after Breast Reduction Any type of strenuous activity can induce swelling and bleeding, especially during the first 10-14 days after surgery. Therefore, limit your exercise to walking during the first month. In general, guide your activities by your discomfort — that is, if an activity hurts, do not do it. If your job keeps you rather sedentary, you may feel well enough to return to work in 7-10 days. You will tire easily and you may want to limit your hours on your first few days back. If the swelling or discomfort increases, you have probably done too much too soon. One month after surgery, you may start easing yourself into your usual exercise routine with strenuous exercises permitted after 6 weeks. Remember; do not push yourself too quickly.#breastreduction#breastreductionpostop#breastreductionrecovery

Answer: Is 3 days too soon to return to work after Breast Reduction? Thank you for your question. Some patients are able to return to work within a few days of a breast reduction, but it largely depends on pain control. You would not be able to drive if still taking prescription pain medication and you will get tired at work more quickly. Most commonly I have patients take 5-7 days off, that way I can have an opportunity to see them at least once before they return to work.

Answer: Time off from work after a breast reduction Most patients can return to work at about two weeks after a breast reduction. That of course depends on the type of work that one does. A flight attendant or ER nurse who have more physically demanding jobs may require additional time off. Three days sounds very quick. You will be very tired since your body will be putting energy into healing. If you rush back to work you might increase the risk of wound healing issues and it willnot be worth it.
