Based on my dentist's advice I am getting a porcelain veneer put on my left front tooth which is discolored. I talked to him about getting bonding rather than a veneer but he says it will cost less in the long run to do the veneer. The shaving happened on Tuesday October 24 and since then the temporary crown has fallen off twice I can't afford to miss more time from work to get it put back on. How much longer until it's all over and completed and what can I do about the temporary crown problem?
Answer: Temp veneer You should ask your dentist or office staff if there is any way to expedite the fabrication of the veneer and, therefore, have it restored quicker. In regards to the temporary coming off, unfortunately this is quiet normal as it is only a temporary covering for the tooth and by no means is it meant to be permanent. The dentist should recheck the bite when placing the new temp as well as when He or She places the final veneer to be sure you are not hitting heavily on the new portions of the tooth. Try to stick with a softer diet and avoid eating sandwiches, biting into apples, and chewing salads until the front veneer is ready.

Answer: Temporary Crowns and Veneers Falling Off Temporizing a single veneer is difficult as your dentist is trying to weakly bond a composite veneer onto your tooth without adversely changing the seating shape for the veneer or it coming off during use. A Delicate technique. Technology can make this situation much less common.A well made temporary can look almost as good as the final ceramic if time and care are taken.....but, I found out that we could invest all that time and care into the final restoration and it's done once. This is EXACTLY why I transitioned my office into a CEREC office where we scan, mill and bond your permanent ceramic work on in a single visit. Some dentist love doing all this work themselves and some dentist do not but may like focusing their time in other areas but even using a intra-oral scanner can result in 5 day veneers and crowns if sent to a lab. Fortunately, what you are experiencing with your temporary veneer is becoming a thing of the past....

Answer: Temporary crown problems Sorry to hear about your troubles... The best thing to do is to have your temporary to be re-bonded again. Your dentist may also need to see why the temporary restoration keeps coming off. Almost always the temporary crowns should be viewed as a diagnostic tool which may be indicative of some problems that can potentially happen to a permanent restoration as well. A good and knowledgeable doctor should always exercise his analytical skills when it comes to re-occurring problem. As far as how much longer this will continue, you should ask that of your doctor. In my practice we always work with patients schedules and understand their busy professional and social lifestyles. The fabrication of a permanent restoration may be accelerated, it's just a technical process that can be done faster especially considering your circumstances. Good luck, Dr. Daniyar

Answer: Temporary veneer keeps coming off Hi:You should ask your dentist when the final porcelain veneer will be ready. In terms of the temporary, unfortunately this is quiet normal. Avoid eating sandwiches and putting any pressure on the front tooth until your veneer is ready.Best,Dr. Maddahi
