I have a venous lake on my lip. What is the best laser and is it possible for permanent results? (photo)

I have personally been using electrocautery for shrinking and eliminating venous lakes of the lips for well over three decades with extremely gratifying results. Treatment takes under five minutes and is relatively inexpensive and is usually a one-time procedure. The very fact that people ask, "Which laser is best?" rather than asking, "Which treatment is best?" is proof positive of the power to persuade these days of marketing and advertising hype for all the various, supposedly "next big thing" bells and whistles lasers and other devices to hit the market. Make sure that you find a board certified aesthetic physician and not simply any venue hawking its expensive laser. Best of luck.

Venous lakes are very common on the lips (and helices of the ears). They appear as blue or purple papules (bumps). I have found that simple electrocoagulation is more efficient and effective than the vascular lasers that we have available. The lips are very forgiving areas to treat and scarring is rarely observed.

It may resolve with 1 treatment, but many times a couple of treatment will be necessary. Once the vessel that is feeding the little pool of blood is destroyed, the lesion should resolve and not come back.

I treat venous lakes on the lip with the dornier 940 diode. Another option is micorneedle radiofrequency ablation with an Elman Surgitron. Usually only one or two treatments are necessary and I charge $200 per treatment.
