Sleeping position after nose injury

Question

Hi doctor, One week ago, i had a nose injury. My nose wasn't straight... Three days ago a doctor brought my nasal bones back to it's place (reduction). My question is about sleeping. I'v been sleeping only on my stomach for years. Of course i'll sleep only on my back until i know it is safe to change my position. When do you think i can sleep on my side, or stomach? Is sleeping on the stomach (which makes pressure on my nose) can do any damage to my nose shape or bones? Thank you so much! :)

The procedure you describe, involving moving your nasal bones, is essentially something that occurs during every rhinoplasty. Assuming that after the reposition of your nasal bones the surgeon placed a splint on your nose, it will be removed between 7-10 days following that. As your healing will probably be similar to that of a traditional rhinoplasty, laying on your side 10-14 days afterwards is usually acceptable (assuming pressure on your nose).

Hi oceanbluer,
In 6 weeks post-op, your nose will be healed enough to safely lie down on your stomach. Sleeping on your side should be good in 2 weeks post op however.
