Had my 1st prp hair treatment 13 days ago. The doc injected me anesthesia twice in a form of a ring and made many injections of the prp in the crown area. On the 2nd day i suffered pain in the treated areal I tried Tylenol but it didn’t help the pain so I took 1 pill of Advil 400 mg. 3 days ago I saw my forehead has really swollen (see photos) so I took 60 mg of prednisone. In the evening I saw that the swelling has migrated to my nose bridge and around my eyes.is it normal? Why it happen? Thank you

It is not unusual to have swelling in the forehead after a ring block but it is unusual to occur almost 2 weeks after the procedure.The swelling is caused by fluid,and by gravity this fluid could accumulate underneath your eyes.This should resolve on its own over the next few days.It is most likely due to the anesthesia not the platelets themselves.

Thank you for your question. With non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation your skin should not react to the PRP in this way since its platelets from your own body. This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options moving forward.

This can happen, and it's annoying more than anything.  I encourage my PRP patients to use oral arnica starting the day before and then continue for a few days.  Also icing the forehead after injection helps too.  Hope this helps! Dr. Rome

it is unlikely  to see any  swelling just 2 weeks after the  PRP  treatment ..  Local anesthetic caused edema may  happen just  1-2 days after treatment .  it is better to  have an appointment  with your doc again  to reevaluate the case.
