Does TE cause hair miniaturization? And shedding of miniaturized hairs? The ISHRS.org says "Abnormal hair shedding and hair miniaturization-the condition known as telogen effluvium-can be caused by high or prolonger fever and trauma" "Hair miniaturization the condition known as telogen effluvium" is that correct or or false?

Telogen Effluvium is NOT associated with miniaturization of hair. In TE (there are 5 different types/patterns) the normal terminal (thick) hair is shed without any underlying changes to the hair structure itself. Hair miniaturization is a direct result of changes to the health and structure of the follicle itself. It usually takes multiple hair cycles over 5-15 years for hair to miniaturize. Miniaturization is caused by genetic predisposition and the effects of DHT. It is NOT related to TE, which is a separate process. I hope this answers your question.
