Malar bags swollen after Belotero. How long does it typically take to resolve? Why are they reacting? (Photo)

The swelling following filler injection under the eyes is quite common and it might take up to 2 weeks to fully subside and at time, any concerns can be best addressed by your injector. This being said, filler injections under the eyes require a great level of skill and experience to achieve best aesthetic results. Issues related with malar bags and alike (if due to the filler itself and not temporary swelling) can often be avoided by careful injection of fillers at other areas nearby instead of focusing on under the eyes only. It can take up to 2 weeks for swelling from tear trough injections to go away. The skin in this area is very thin. You can help with very light ice pack, not applying too much pressure and trying Arnica. If after 2 weeks, you are still having significant swelling then return to your injector and have them evaluate you.

Patients that receive Belotero Dermal Filler may have an injection site reaction that is temporary and lasts usually less than 7 days. These reaction can include inflammation. Normally it is recommended that for approximately 24 hours after the treatment you try to avoid strenuous activity, sun or heat exposure, aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, and alcoholic beverages. Swelling and bruising are common after undereye filler injection but can be minimized using a microcannula. The swelling can take 7-14 days to resolve. I would give yourself a few days to see if the swelling resolves on its own which it commonly does. If not, please followup with your injector in person. If need be, the filler can be reversed using hyaluronidase.
