Can’t decide between chin implant and genioplasty?

As you see in the photo i need either genioplasty or chin implant, i am scared of genioplasty but would a chin implant be a good choice for me?

In severely recessive cases like yours, the genioplasty is the better procedure. The genioplasty will allow an advancement up to 10 mm and looks the most natural. It doesn't change your bite and braces are not needed.

With your amount of chin deficiency a sliding genioplasty would provide the most effective and best long-term solution to your chin augmentation needs.

In the United States plastic surgeons tend to lean more towards recommending chin implants while oral surgeons tend to recommend a sliding genioplasty.

Both procedures have advantages and disadvantages. In more severe cases the sliding genioplasty is probably a better procedure.

In the end the most important variable is finding the most experienced and talented provider. This could be a plastic surgeon or an oral surgeon since both specialties contribute to this condition.

There are certainly oral surgeons who do implants and plastic surgeons who do the sliding genioplasty. I’m only sharing what my experiences have been.

This could be different in different parts of the world.
