Bulbous and uneven tip after six months

Question

Hi! I just had rhinoplasty almost six months ago. My nose is much straighter and symmetrical up top but my tip is uneven and bolbous. My left nostril has had all the discharge, thick mucous and thin runny drainage, my right nostril has had barely any. The left nostril is swollen and has less shape, so I am concerned that the constant wiping has changed the shape of the tip. The tip is still round and shapeless. I thought I would have more definition.

Hello and thank you for your question. The final results take at least 1.5 years for the swelling to fully resolve. This can require lots of patience and waiting. Steroid injections performed by your surgeon can be extremely helpful. I usually start steroid injections around 1 to 2 months after surgery and continue as needed. I recommend that you maintain close follow up with your surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Dear atavernia,
The dictum in rhinoplasty surgery is that it takes a full year at least for the healing process to stabilize.  If your plastic surgeon has not told you this then continue the scheduled follow ups with him/her and have that discussion.  Good luck!
