I've a fibroadenoma, which was biopsied as benign. When I went to see a plastic surgeon for breast augmentation, I asked for the fibroadenoma to be removed during procedure. The surgeon was against it, saying fibroadenoma contains bacteria, removal increases risk of infection (if it bursts), the bacteria also causes silicone implant to harden. I was told to have it removed before/after. I went to a breast surgeon, who said fibroadenoma does not contain bacteria. Which surgeon is correct?
