Broken capillaries are worse, and they've spread after laser resurfacing. What can I do?

Question

Can laser cause spread of broken capillaries or cause the formation of new ones? I Recently had laser for broken capillaries at new clinic. 1 day after treatment the capillaries went darker and I noticed they spread and look much worse than before. Originally just on side of nose now are all around the corners and outside nose as well. I've had laser before many times at a different clinic and they disappeared immediately. Probably used a different kind of laser. Its been 3 weeks no improvement.

Laser skin resurfacing is one of many non-surgical techniques that can increase the spread of capillaries. At about 4 weeks a touch up can be done. I suggest test spot to see response .If non responsive research type of laser used-pulse dye, yag, Ipl ? Skin reponse varies.

Any treatment inducing inflammation which would include laser, peels, and surgery, can increase the appearance of capillaries.  This is not only related to the inflammatory reaction which dilates vessels (commonly temporary over a period of weeks or months) but also to the rerouting of blood through vessels which preexisted but were not evident.  In any case rejuvenating lasers generally are not ideal for treating capillaries although they may help.  Lasers created specifically for vessel treatment which might include a KTP laser, a pulsed dye laser, and others would be more effective for the vessel treatment area.  Three weeks it is insufficient time to see the final result.  I would suggest waiting another 3 weeks and returning to your physician or another person  who has the capability of treating the capillaries.
