In my humble opinion, the lower back and the inner thighs are usually the most painful areas following liposuction. The level of pain is less if the deepest fat that lays on the surface of the muscles is avoided, but my patients usually desire maximal fat removal.
Every body responds differently to liposuction, and every liposuction surgery is unique, which makes it difficult to pinpoint specific areas that tend to be more sensitive after lipo. Each person's pain response to surgery is different. But the areas that tend to be the most sensitive for the greatest number of people are those that get the most use, even during recovery, like the inner thighs, hips and arms. Areas like the abdomen, while still sensitive, don't seem to elicit the same response.
Pain varies depending on the extent of liposuction and eachperson has and individual tolerance to pain the upper arm and hip area tend tobe more painful to most patients, whereas the abdomen and thighs are lesspainful. There is very little pain in the neck area.

I suggest speaking to your surgeon. Often swelling and change in hormones are common after surgery and it may be best for you to get on some diuretics and see a hormonoal doctor at this time to optimize the results. Best, Dr. Emer.
