Why does my eyelid look so different? Is it permanent? Will this require a procedure? (photos)

I'm Asian and have double eyelids, and woke up with my eyes being swollen yesterday after what I assume was an allergic reaction to a lotion. It changed my eyelid crease to have multiple folds. I assumed that it would go back to normal after the swelling goes down, but it is still there. Should I be concerned? Does this require a procedure?

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photos. Since the change of your eyelids was literally overnight, this problem should correct itself. If the issues do not resolve, see an oculoplastic surgeon for in-person consultation. Good luck!

Inflammation in the eyelids can cause alteration in the appearance of the eyelid creases. These often resolve as the inflammation resolved. However, occasionally the inflammation can have a long term effect on how the eyelid creases. Do not message or rub the eyelids. Try to be patient and see if time allows your upper eyelid crease settle. If this should persist, a personal consultation is recommended to assess what is going on.
