Does a 5-7 day hospital stay after a tummy tuck seem overboard to you?

Most people do great after a tummy tuck. A combination of analgesic medications can keep you comfortable. Typically the first couple days you may be moving a bit slow, but won't be in awful discomfort.  After that you will quickly bounce back.  By a week you will be good and by two your surgeon will be putting the brakes on you.I have no idea why anyone needs to stay for so long.  Perhaps if you are not living within a short drive they want to make sure to keep a close eye on you.  I fully support close medical followup and caring for patients not only before, but especially after surgery.  However, I think that you can probably do great with a night or two at most after this surgery. Hospital Stay following Tummy Tuck is dictated by economics not healing.In the US patients typically stay in Hospital for a shorter duration. This varies elsewhere. In Australia 3- 5 days is the norm, depending on the extent of the Tummy Tuck. I have patients who have gone home on day 2 while some others have stayed 5 days. Discuss this with your Plastic Surgeon.Best

Many thanks for the question. I am aware of this fact that several counties in
Europe does it this way since they tend to remove loads of skin and following
TT they like to keep patient in bed with hip and knees flexed to make it heal
strongly before making the patient to walk and to walk slowly without bending
forward. It does yield remarkably better results. Here in Dubai per day room
rents are high so we dont follow such extremes of regimen.
