I had a fat transfer to my cheeks back in 2014 and it still looks bad. One side is bigger than the other and my face always looks bloated. It seems to be very slowly reducing in size but I'm still not happy. Will it ever go away completley?
Answer: Fat grafting Thank you for submitting your questions.I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your facial fat transfer results, however you do have options. I would recommend a consult from a board certified plastic surgeon because you would be a good candidate for a revision of your initial surgery.

Answer: Fat transfer results--water-assisted harvesting, prp, sculptra Thank you for your question. Fat transfer results are permanent, but not all fat will survive. Harvesting is important to fat transfer. Yes, I use water-assisted fat harvesting which gives pure fat to transfer and combine with platelet rich plasma (PRP) to get the most viable and sustainable fat cells. This can be combined with Sculptra, depending on treated area, to improve outcomes. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Longevity of Fat Fat grafting is considered a permanent procedure because the transplanted fat can last many years. One of the things which can effect the shape of the face after fat grafting is weight gain. If you gain significant weight after fat grafting your face will expand which can result in overcorrection. This is why it is important to maintain a stable weight after fat grafting and to never overcorrect when placing fat in the face. Asymmetries can usually be corrected with filler to balance out the face.
