Fat transfer in HIV positive patient?

I am considering Fat Transfer and was concerned about this comment I read on a doctor's website: Immuno-suppressed patients (HIV positive, chemotherapy, AIDS etc.) and patients with certain autoimmune disorders may not be good candidates for this procedure as the risks of poor healing and infection leading to permanent scarring and poor aesthetic results may be much higher. I am healthy and undetectable and heal well. Would this work for me?

fat grafting can be done in any patient, including in HIV patients, I have been doing this for 12 years without any issues.  Best, Dr. Emer.

If you are in good health, heal well, have sufficient body fat and have no problems with your immune system then there is no reason why you could not have fat transfer. As with any patient who has a medical condition I would ask the physician managing their condition for a note of medical clearance

As long as you are under appropriate care for your HIV, in other words overall healthy, with low counts, you should be a candidate for most cosmetic surgery and aesthetic procedures, including fat transfer.

I think it is OK for someone who is HIV+ with undetectable virus to be able to undergo a BBL. You are best to be seen in person.
