Just had Septoplasty, can only see one of the splints. Any suggestions?

I just had septoplasty and I know the you get a split in each side of the nose, I can only visibly see one of the splints, on my right side, on the left side I cant see anything. Is this normal? is it possible I may have pushed it in further unintentionally when I slept or something like that?

It is tough to say without knowing what exactly was done, but it would be uncommon to put only one splint inside. I would ask your surgeon directly. Best of luck

Physicians who use intranasal splints often secure them to the nose with sutures and these sutures need to be removed by your surgeon in order to take out your splints. Sometimes is it rather difficult to see the edge of the splint, depending on how it was placed. If you are worried, see your doctor for an examination and verify that everything is as it should be. It is unlikely, but not impossible, that you unintentionally moved the splint, but an examination can quickly determine what is going on.

I don't typically use splints after septoplasty, however, when used, they are almost always sewn into the septum therefore they cannot be dislodged.  If you are concerned, please call your doctor and he/she can see you sooner to check to see if the splints are in place or not.  It is normal for you to not be able to see them though.
