Surgeon used staples for my breast lift. Will the puckering go away? (Photo)

Dear warpaint1990,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

and I do not get poor scarring from the staples as they are all removed within a week.  The are designed to make the tissue gather along the incisions (evert tissue) as this allows for better healing.  The puckering will flatten once the staples are removed and the scar will be no worse than if you had it sutured.  If you do have less than satisfactory healing, you can check with your surgeons about what options are available to you.

Some surgeons choose to use staples in select patients. The final scars depend a lot on the patient. The actual scars themselves are likely to be unaffected though in some patients the staples can leave "dots" along the actual scar. The healing process should proceed the same whichever method is chosen.

Hi and welcome to our forum!Congratulations on your recent surgery. Through experience, every surgeon discovers a technique with which he / she feels comfortable and finds to provide the best result in his / her hands. Some use interrupted sutures, some use a running suture, some use sutures that are totally embedded in the skin.  Some sutures dissolve. Some use staples, Some use tissue glue. Slight skin surface irregularities may be noted after the procedure. As the scars mature and settle, these irregularities will usually remodel. It is far to early to assess your operative result. Continue followup with your plastic surgeon.Best wishes...
