Generally, when one has a documented injury to the nose with concomitant airway/breathing issues, the insurance should cover the cost of the surgery.  It is worthwhile getting a consultation and having the plastic surgeon check with coverage from the insurance.  Many insurance companies will at lease cover the septoplasty for obstruction.  If the insurance company deems that the rhinoplasty part is cosmetic, then I would see if this can be done as an outpatient in an accredited ambulatory center where the cost would be less.

 A rhinoplasty is considered cosmetic, and must be paid for by the patient. A septoplasty for breathing can be billed to the patient's medical insurance, once medical necessity has been documented at the time of the examination and consultation. Alternatively, you could look into having one of the residents at the local university Medical Center perform your nasal surgery supervised by an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for a discounted price.
