3-year-old hypertrophic scar - I've tried massage and silicone gel, what are the best treatment options for my scar? (Photos)

Hi, I have a 3-year-old hypertrophic scar on the backside of my ear following otoplasty. My doctor advised against steroid injections due to the risk of cartilage deformation in that area. The main issues with the scar are that it’s raised and sometimes painful. I’ve already tried massage and silicone gel for an extended period, but unfortunately, it hasn’t made a noticeable difference. I’m wondering if there are any alternative treatments, such as CO2 laser, that could help. Would that be a suitable option in my case? I have also read on internet that steroids can be used. Is it true or not? I have contact with a skin therapist right now but we have not decided something yet. Mostly I just want the pain gone and the scar flattened.
